Sheboygan, Wisconsin, has earned a place on the Realtor.com® 2025 Hottest ZIP Codes list, a recognition given to markets where homes are generating heavy buyer interest and selling at lightning speed.
Known for its Lake Michigan shoreline, small-city amenities, and relative affordability, Sheboygan real estate is proving to be one of Wisconsin’s most competitive housing markets this year.
Homes are moving quickly in Sheboygan
Ranked No. 32 nationally, Sheboygan saw homes sell in a median of 32 days between January and June 2025—three weeks faster than the U.S. median of 53 days. The typical home listed at $326,000, well below the national median of $441,000 in June 2025.
Wisconsin was strongly represented in this year’s rankings. Racine, WI homes (ZIP 53402) came in at No. 30 with a median of $329,000 and a 29-day time on market, while Waukesha, WI homes (ZIP 53186) landed at No. 14 with a $341,000 median and homes selling in just 28 days. Together, these three ZIPs highlight Wisconsin’s rising profile, from Sheboygan’s lakeside lifestyle to Racine’s balance of affordability and metro proximity, and Waukesha’s suburban appeal within commuting distance of Milwaukee.
The Midwest is a buyer magnet
Sheboygan’s momentum is part of a larger Midwest trend. Realtor.com’s housing data shows the Midwest has consistently placed multiple ZIPs in the nation’s top 50, including Ballwin, MO; Strongsville, OH; and Bexley, OH—all of which also ranked in the top 10 nationally. These markets combine affordability and livability, offering a compelling contrast to pricier metros on the coasts.
Sheboygan, with its mid-$300Ks median price, falls into that same “sweet spot” of affordability that defines much of the Midwest. Buyers drawn here can stretch their budgets further than in coastal markets while enjoying access to outdoor recreation, cultural amenities, and a strong community fabric.
Suburban living with urban access
Realtor.com Chief Economist Danielle Hale explains that the 2025 hottest ZIPs are being driven by buyers chasing relative value, not just low sticker prices. “These locations represent a sweet spot for shoppers who want suburban amenities and proximity to jobs without paying top-tier metro premiums,” she notes.
Nationally, the hottest ZIPs sold 30–42 days faster than the U.S. average and drew 3.6× more listing views. Inventory remains historically tight, averaging nearly 59% below pre-pandemic levels, which continues to fuel the urgency in markets like Sheboygan. (Many home shoppers are turning to a mortgage planning tool to prepare for competitive bidding in fast-paced ZIP codes.)
What makes Sheboygan stand out is its ability to deliver affordability alongside lifestyle. With a median listing price well below the national norm, yet homes selling much faster than average, Sheboygan has become one of the Midwest’s most desirable small cities. Add in its lakeside setting and family-friendly amenities, and Sheboygan is proving that some of the hottest real estate markets in 2025 are far from the coasts.
