Wichita, Kansas, has made the Realtor.com® 2025 Hottest ZIP Codes list, placing the city in the spotlight as one of the country’s most competitive real estate markets.

Each year, the rankings identify ZIPs where listings are selling at record speeds and drawing outsized buyer interest.

In 2025, Wichita’s 67212 ZIP code earned its spot thanks to a strong mix of affordability, lifestyle, and value.

Homes in Wichita are selling faster than average

Wichita ranked No. 33 nationally, with homes selling in a median of just 31 days from January through June 2025—well ahead of the U.S. median of 53 days. Its typical listing price of $267,000 makes it one of the most affordable ZIPs on this year’s list, coming in nearly 40% below the national June median of $441,000. For buyers comparing their options, a home affordability tool can help show how far budgets stretch in Wichita real estate.

The Midwest showed its strength throughout the rankings. Bloomington, IL homes (No. 26) posted a $358,000 median with a 31-day time on market, while Council Bluffs, IA real estate (No. 28) offered a $302,000 median with a 27-day pace. Wichita sits comfortably in this group, delivering competitive speed and even lower prices.

Midwest affordability keeps drawing buyers

Wichita’s rise reflects a broader Midwest surge. The Realtor.com housing data shows the Midwest has consistently placed multiple ZIPs in the top 50, including Ballwin, MO; Strongsville, OH; and Bexley, OH—all of which ranked in the national top 10. Other strong performers include Rockford, IL, and Racine, WI. These markets combine affordable prices with quick sales, signaling strong demand across America’s heartland.

The Midwest advantage is clear: home prices that remain moderate compared to national norms, paired with stable job markets and suburban amenities. At $267,000, Wichita offers one of the most accessible entry points among the nation’s hottest ZIPs—an attractive combination for first-time home shoppers and families seeking affordability without sacrificing quality of life.

Suburban living with urban access

Realtor.com Chief Economist Danielle Hale says the hottest ZIPs share a key theme: they offer suburban-style space and amenities while maintaining access to major economic hubs.

“These locations represent a sweet spot for shoppers who want suburban amenities and proximity to jobs without paying top-tier metro premiums,” Hale explains.

Nationally, homes in the hottest ZIPs sold 30–42 days faster than the U.S. average and received 3.6× more listing views. Inventory remains tight, averaging nearly 59% below pre-pandemic levels, keeping competition brisk in markets like Wichita. Many buyers are using a mortgage planning tool to prepare for fast-moving offers in high-demand ZIP codes.

Wichita’s edge in 2025

Wichita’s balance of low prices and quick sales makes it one of the Midwest’s strongest contenders in 2025. With homes priced well below the national norm and moving nearly twice as fast, the city delivers a winning formula of affordability, stability, and demand.

For buyers, Wichita proves that some of the hottest real estate opportunities in America aren’t on the coasts—they’re in accessible, value-driven markets in the heart of the country.
