Other Midwestern ZIPs on the list highlight the region’s variety of options. Bloomington, IL real estate (No. 26) came in with a median price of $358,000 and a 31-day time on market, while Rockford, IL homes (No. 11) offered standout affordability at $188,000 with homes selling in just 24 days. Together, these Midwest markets show how smaller cities and suburbs are offering the pace and accessibility buyers want at prices they can manage.
Midwest remains a hotspot
Circle Pines’ performance aligns with Realtor.com’s housing data showing the Midwest as one of the strongest performers nationwide. The region placed multiple ZIPs in the national top 50, including Ballwin, MO; Strongsville, OH; and Bexley, OH, all of which also ranked among the nation’s top 10. Wheaton, IL; Waukesha, WI; and Livonia, MI joined Circle Pines and others in underscoring the Midwest’s strength.
What unites these markets is their mix of affordability and suburban lifestyle. With Ballwin’s $350,000 median and Strongsville’s $423,000 median, the Midwest offers relative value compared to coastal markets where prices often soar past $700,000. Circle Pines fits this mold, delivering suburban amenities and metro access without pushing buyers beyond their budgets.
The national backdrop: affordability first
Realtor.com Chief Economist Danielle Hale emphasizes that today’s hottest ZIPs share a common formula: suburban environments tied to major metros, with more space, relative value, and livability. “These locations represent a sweet spot for shoppers who want suburban amenities and proximity to jobs without paying top-tier metro premiums,” Hale explains.
Nationally, homes in the top ZIPs sold 30–42 days faster than the U.S. norm and received 3.6× more listing views. Inventory in these areas was nearly 59% below pre-pandemic norms, reflecting the scarcity that continues to fuel competition. (Many buyers are turning to a mortgage planning tool to prepare for competitive bidding.)
Circle Pines’ appeal shines through
Circle Pines’ spot on the list underscores how suburban communities just outside major metros are thriving in today’s housing climate. Its homes are priced below the national median, yet listings are selling almost twice as fast. That combination of affordability, speed, and metro access is why Circle Pines is not just a Twin Cities standout—it’s one of the hottest housing markets in the country in 2025.
