Mountain Top, Pennsylvania, has broken into the Realtor.com® 2025 Hottest ZIP Codes list, signaling strong buyer demand in this Luzerne County community.

Each year, the rankings spotlight ZIP codes where homes are selling faster than the U.S. average and generating more listing views from eager shoppers.

In 2025, Mountain Top’s 18707 ZIP code made the list, reflecting how smaller Pennsylvania towns are thriving thanks to affordability, pace, and lifestyle.

Homes in Mountain Top are moving fast

Mountain Top ranked No. 49 nationally, with homes selling in a median of 35 days between January and June 2025. That’s nearly three weeks quicker than the U.S. median of 53 days.

The typical home listed for $364,000—below the June 2025 housing market data median of $441,000—making Mountain Top both competitively priced and fast-moving compared to national norms.

Pennsylvania was well represented in the 2025 rankings. Lancaster (ZIP 17601) came in at No. 25 with a $512,000 median, Palmyra (ZIP 17078) at No. 27 with a $371,000 median, and Reading (ZIP 19607) at No. 31 with a $293,000 median. Camp Hill (ZIP 17011) also landed at No. 46 with a $392,000 median. Mountain Top rounds out this Pennsylvania housing market group, offering a median price just under Camp Hill’s, but with slightly faster sales.

Pennsylvania’s momentum in the Northeast

Mountain Top’s showing highlights Pennsylvania’s growing presence on the Hottest ZIP Codes list. Realtor.com’s regional breakdown shows the Northeast leading the nation, with Beverly, MA, Marlton, NJ, and Leominster, MA ranking in the top three ZIP codes overall. Buyers are prioritizing suburban-style communities where homes are priced below major metro averages but still close to job centers.

Mountain Top benefits from this same dynamic. Located just outside Wilkes-Barre and within reach of Scranton, it provides families with space and suburban amenities while offering access to two regional job hubs. The balance of price and location makes it especially attractive to buyers leaving pricier metros in search of affordability.

Suburban living with urban access

Realtor.com Chief Economist Danielle Hale explains that the hottest ZIPs of 2025 reflect a common trend: suburban-style homes with access to jobs and infrastructure.

“These locations represent a sweet spot for shoppers who want suburban amenities and proximity to jobs without paying top-tier metro premiums,” Hale says.

Nationally, the hottest ZIPs sold 30–42 days faster than the U.S. average and drew 3.6× more listing views. Inventory in these markets remains constrained—nearly 59% below pre-pandemic levels—fueling urgency in competitive ZIPs like Mountain Top. Buyers can prepare stronger offers by exploring home loan options and understanding private mortgage insurance.

Mountain Top’s edge in 2025

What sets Mountain Top apart is its balance of affordability, speed, and location in Pennsylvania’s Wyoming Valley. Its $364,000 median price makes it accessible compared to national norms, while its 35-day sales pace proves buyers are moving quickly to secure homes.

With a mix of suburban neighborhoods, proximity to outdoor recreation in the Poconos, and commuting access to Wilkes-Barre and Scranton, Mountain Top offers a compelling package for families and professionals alike.

Alongside Lancaster, Palmyra, Reading, and Camp Hill, Mountain Top underscores the strength of Pennsylvania’s housing market in 2025. These communities show that buyers across the state are zeroing in on suburbs and small cities where homes are affordable, inventory is tight, and quality of life is high.
