Jacksonville Jaguars star rookie Travis Hunter is making his mark on the field as the NFL’s latest two-way player—and, now, he’s settling into a new home.
The team’s No. 2 overall pick and 2024 Heisman Trophy winner closed on a $3.27 million home at the Deerwood Country Club in Jacksonville, FL, in June.
The high-end property in a gated community was purchased through an LLC managed by Hunter and his new wife, Leanna De La Fuente.
Built in 1995, the 8,125-square-foot, two-story home offers five bedrooms, 5.5 bathrooms, and a four-car garage on a sprawling 7.5-acre lot. The residence is a rare find in the Southside enclave, featuring a pool, pickleball court, and unmatched privacy within Deerwood’s double-gated Estates section.

“It was really special,” listing agent Angela Stringfellow, of Keller Williams Realty Atlantic Partners, told the Jacksonville Daily Record. “He took the time to appreciate the home and the family that lived there. I hope he finds it as wonderful as we have for 15 years.”
Stringfellow added that the property’s wildlife, including deer and a resident owl that has been around for 15 years, made an impression.
Deerwood Country Club, established in the 1960s as Jacksonville’s first gated golf community, has long been known for its stately homes, lush landscapes, and exclusive amenities. The community’s 25,000-square-foot clubhouse recently underwent a multimillion-dollar renovation, and the 2024 addition of a resort-style aquatic center further enhanced its luxury appeal.
While most homes in Deerwood sell for well below Hunter’s purchase price, properties in the Estates section are rarely listed and command premium prices. According to the listing agent, his $3.275 million deal set a record for the community, underscoring both the scarcity and desirability of high-acreage estates in this gated Southside enclave.

The Estates section’s combination of acreage, privacy, and proximity to Southside’s shopping, dining, and major roadways has attracted professional athletes before—former Jaguars kicker Josh Scobee and defensive tackle John Henderson have also called Deerwood home.
Hunter, 22, enters the NFL as a rare two-way player, expected to contribute as both a cornerback and wide receiver. After a standout college career at Jackson State and Colorado, he became the first player since 1962 to win the Heisman Trophy while starting on both sides of the ball.
The Jaguars traded up in the 2025 draft to secure him, signing him to a four-year, $30.57 million contract.
ESPN reported that Hunter and De La Fuente married in May in Tennessee, just days before closing on their new Jacksonville home.
With its spacious layout, expansive grounds, and resortlike amenities, the Deerwood estate seems well-suited for a player whose game is defined by versatility and stamina. Whether relaxing by the pool or honing his footwork on the tennis court, Hunter will have no shortage of space to recharge between games.
In the competitive world of luxury real estate, timing is everything—and for Hunter, both on the field and on the market, his timing couldn’t be better.
