Tennis pro Naomi Osaka has just proven herself as something of a savvy real estate dealer by selling a picturesque Tarzana, CA, estate back to reality TV host couple Nick and Vanessa Lachey for $7.9 million—just three years after buying it off them for $6.2 million.

The Grand Slam deal comes exactly one year to the day after the Lacheys revealed that they were quitting their home in Hawaii to come back to California, a move that was prompted by the cancellation of Vanessa’s crime series “NCIS: Hawaii.”

Nick, 51, and Vanessa, 44, originally moved to Honolulu in 2021, when the latter landed her role on the show, and a few months later they purchased a stunning home there for $8.8 million.

However, they announced their move back to the mainland in August 2024, one month after purchasing a six-bedroom abode in Encino, CA, for $6.8 million.

At the time, it was widely believed that the Encino dwelling would serve as the “Love Is Blind” hosts’ primary residence for the foreseeable future—however they raised eyebrows by listing the dwelling less than one year later for $7.4 million, a sizable price increase.

Now, their reasons for offloading in Encino have become much more clear.

Despite selling their Tarzana abode to Osaka, 27, in February 2022, the couple appear to have realized that the home is truly where their hearts are, agreeing to shell out $3 million more than they originally paid for the property back in 2020 to reclaim it.

Though the property was never officially put on the market—with each of the sales taking place privately—sources close to the situation told the Wall Street Journal that Osaka made multiple upgrades to the home while living there.

These renovations included the addition of a new structure on the grounds that contains a gym and a “recovery center” that features a sauna, a cold plunge, a steam room, and a massage table.

Images of the home reveal that Osaka also switched out much of the furniture to give the home a more modern feel—although the Lacheys may opt to return to their more classic style when they move back in.

As befitting a tennis star or a Netflix-famous duo, the property comes complete with an array of other impressive amenities, including a swimming pool, a pickleball court, and a hot tub, although interestingly there is no tennis facility on the grounds.

It’s unclear whether Osaka plans to remain in the area—or whether she will look further afield for a new home, perhaps one that offers a court more suited to her needs.

But for Nick and Vanessa, the home seems to perfectly fit their family’s requirements.

There are five bedrooms in the main residence, providing more than enough space for Nick, Vanessa, and their three children, Camden, Phoenix, and Brooklyn.

The couple also managed to sneak back into the dwelling just in time for the start of the school year, giving their children the chance to start the new semester in a familiar setting after 12 months of upheaval.

Luckily, the Lacheys are seasoned experts when it comes to moving house.

Soon after their move to Honolulu, Nick voiced his excitement over their relocation, joking that it was impossible to complain about living in a real-life paradise.

“Hawaii is Hawaii, you can’t complain about it. It’s a total life adjustment, so I think for the whole family, it took some time to get into that new school, new living situation. But, yeah, we’re loving it,” he told ET in September 2021.

“It’s a great place to be and most importantly, [Vanessa is] at home on her show doing what she loves to do. We’re all loving it, and it’s good for the entire family. Hopefully we’ll be there for the next 15 years.”

Sadly, however, that dream was not meant to be. When “NCIS: Hawaii” was officially canceled, Nick and Vanessa made the decision to quit island life altogether in favor of returning to California.

Still, they appear to have relished their time living there, with Vanessa posting touching messages to Hawaiian locals on Instagram amid their move, thanking them for helping to make her family feel so at home during her three-year stint on “NCIS.”

“‘A Hui Hou’ (Hawaiian for goodbye): Home is where the heart is… Hawai’i, you will always have my heart! Mahalo Nui Loa for 3 beautiful, magical years you gave me and my family! Now, on to the next adventure. Off into the sunset we go! #LacheyPartyOf5 #AlohaSpirit,” she wrote.
