EXCLUSIVE: Jodi Hildebrandt's $5 Million Home Taken Off the Market Weeks Before Premiere of New Docuseries About Her Heinous Crimes

YouTube; Realtor.com

Convicted child abuser Jodi Hildebrandt‘s $5 million Utah mansion has been taken off the market—just days before the premiere of a new docuseries that will highlight the “disturbing” crimes she and former YouTuber Ruby Franke committed inside the property.

It was at the dwelling in Ivins, UT, where Hildebrandt and Franke were famously arrested in August 2023, before later being charged with aggravated child abuse.

Both women pleaded guilty to their crimes, and in February 2024, they were each sentenced to four consecutive prison terms, which could see them serving up to 30 years behind bars for the horrifying abuse they subjected Franke’s youngest children to.

Soon after their arrests, shocking details about the crimes they committed inside Hildebrandt’s home began to come to light—with police officers discovering a number of torture devices during their search of the property, including rope, handcuffs, and cayenne pepper paste.

At the time, Franke is understood to have been living at the dwelling with Hildebrandt, as well as her two youngest children, Russell, then 12, and Eve, then 10.

“Ruby and Jodi: A Cult of Sin and Influence” will uncover the “motivations” that led former YouTuber Franke to abuse her youngest children, one of whom was found inside a closet in Hildebrandt’s Utah home.

The docuseries will show police bodycam footage of the moment the women were arrested at the property, which was most recently listed for just under $5 million.

The abuse was brought to light only after Russell escaped the home and fled to the home of a neighbor, where security footage showed him begging for food and help.

After police arrived at Hildebrandt’s property, they discovered Eve inside a closet, with bodycam footage later revealing one officer was left close to tears when he found her.

“The neighbor observed duct tape on the boy’s ankles and wrists, severe wounds, and malnourishment. He quickly contacted law enforcement who, upon arrival, learned that potentially more children remained inside Ms. Hildebrandt’s home and in harm’s way,” a police report read.

“The officers responded to Ms. Hildebrandt’s home, placed her under arrest, and conducted a search of her sizable property where they found Ms. Franke’s 9-year-old daughter, petrified and hiding in a closet.”

Both Franke and Hildebrandt were held without bail while they awaited the start of their December 2023 plea hearings—with the latter opting to list her home for sale for $5.3 million just weeks before she was ultimately sentenced.

However, the dwelling was swiftly taken off the market after a judge ruled that Hildebrandt had to wait until her sentencing before selling it.

In the 18 months since, the property—which the listing described as “a true masterpiece with stunning features and finishes”—has languished on the market with little interest, leading to a price reduction in March 2024, to $4.99 million.

One year later, it appeared that the property might have finally found a buyer, with the listing updated to note that the home was “pending” sale. However, that deal fell through just a few weeks later, and the dwelling was put back on the market yet again.

Now, just weeks before Investigation Discovery is set to debut a new documentary about Hildebrandt and Franke’s crimes, the home has been delisted once more.

“Ruby and Jodi: A Cult of Sin and Influence” will premiere on Sept. 1 and promises to dive into the “motivations” behind the two women’s shocking abuse of two young children.

The show, which will air on HBO Max, will also shine a light on the ConneXions program, the same program Hildebrandt used to assert her power in the Mormon community and influence the members.

It will also include additional police footage taken inside the home of the moment that Eve was found, emaciated and starved, inside a closet.

While a number of Franke’s family members have already spoken out about the scandal, including her husband, Kevin, who has since divorced her, and her two oldest children, Shari and Chad, this new docuseries will feature Hildebrandt’s niece, Jessi, discussing her aunt’s “manipulation” tactics.

“Delving into Hildebrandt and Franke’s relationship from both women’s respective rise to power and extensive influence within the Mormon community to their eventual arrests in 2023, the docuseries charts the magnetic connection between the two and how the melding of Franke’s strict family values with Hildebrandt’s controversial beliefs created a microcosm of control, manipulation, and brutality that led to the devastating emotional and physical abuse of the Franke children,” a press release shared with Realtor.com® read.

The docuseries will include video of police arriving at the property.

It will also feature footage of Franke’s son arriving at a neighbor’s house after he escaped Hildebrandt’s home.

Franke, a mother of six who rose to fame as a parenting influencer with the YouTube channel “8 Passengers,” and Hildebrandt, a former Mormon family therapist, had been living together at the home at the time of their arrests.

The release added that the series will include extensive “archival and police footage,” as well as insight from local journalists who covered the case.

“The disturbing alliance between Ruby Franke and Jodi Hildebrandt has captivated and horrified the public, and this docuseries peels back the layers of that relationship through exclusive interviews with family members, former clients, and experts to explore the broader implications of family vlogging and the devastating impact of family abuse,” said Jason Sarlanis, president of Investigation Discovery.

While Hildebrandt’s home has been on the market for more than a year now, the property where Franke lived with her family—and which served as the set of her popular “8 Passengers” YouTube channel—has remained delisted, having been awarded to Kevin as part of their divorce settlement.

The couple’s divorce was finalized on March 20 after a judge signed a decree approving the terms, which awarded full custody of their four children under the age of 18 to Kevin, as well as sole ownership of their $1.3 million Springville, UT, home.

Additionally, Kevin was awarded ownership of a 2.8-acre plot of land in Scofield, Carbon County.

It is unclear whether Kevin plans to retain the seven-bedroom, 6.5-bathroom home that he and his former wife purchased in 2020 when the family was at the height of their online fame and earning up to $100,000 a month.

At the time, Franke had carved out a very lucrative business for herself and her family via her YouTube channel, “8 Passengers,” on which she documented her day-to-day life at home with her children and husband.
