The Los Angeles Police Department has arrested a suspect in connection with the brutal killings of “American Idol” executive Robin Kaye and her husband, Thomas Deluca, after the couple was found dead inside their $5 million Encino home on July 14.

22-year-old Raymond Boodarian, a resident of Encino, was arrested on July 15 after being identified as a “suspect responsible for a double homicide,” authorities have confirmed.

According to a statement issued by the LAPD, Kaye and Deluca, both 70, were found inside their property after officers were called to the home to perform a welfare check shortly after 2:30 p.m. local time.

Authorities found the bodies of Kaye and Deluca in separate rooms of the house, with each having suffered “multiple gunshot wounds.” They were pronounced dead on the scene.

It is thought that the shooter gained access to the property via an unlocked door while Kaye and Deluca were not home; however, police believe that they returned to the residence to find the suspect present, resulting in a “confrontation” that led to their deaths.

“The victims returned home while the suspect was inside their residence, and a confrontation ensued, which resulted in the suspect taking their lives,” police stated. “The victims succumbed to multiple gunshot wounds, and the suspect fled from the residence on foot.

“Homicide investigators worked diligently through the night and identified the suspect as 22-year-old Raymond Boodarian, a resident of Encino.”

The LAPD also confirmed that officers had previously been called to the house on July 10 “for a possible burglary,” following reports that neighbors had seen a man attempting to gain access to the property, noting that they believed he could have been armed.

It is currently unclear whether Boodarian was in any way connected to this prior break-in attempt.

“At this time, investigators are attempting to determine whether Boodarian has any connection to Deluca and Kaye, and if Boodarian was involved in any past calls for service at the White Oak residence,” the LAPD revealed, adding that their investigation into the crime is ongoing.

As first reported by TMZ, officers arrived at Kaye and Deluca’s home on the afternoon of July 14 and discovered blood at the entrance of the home. It was initially claimed that a window had been smashed in an apparent attempt to gain access to the dwelling; however, this was not mentioned in the official police statement.

It’s understood that the welfare check was requested by family friends of the couple, who said the duo had not been heard from for four days.

The couple purchased the six-bedroom, six-bathroom dwelling for $4.5 million in 2023, according to property records seen by Realtor.com®.

Kaye, who began her career in Nashville, per her IMDB page, worked as a music supervisor on the hit talent show “American Idol” for more than 20 years between 2002 and 2023.

She also boasted a number of other impressive screen credits, having worked on several major productions, including the Miss Universe contest in 2019 and the NAACP Image Awards for several years.

Kaye earned wide recognition for her work behind the scenes on these kinds of projects, including several Guild of Music Supervisors awards for her contributions to “American Idol.”

In 2019, she was named by Variety as one of several “music supervisors to watch,” with the outlet calling attention to her “tireless” efforts behind the scenes of so many shows.

The publication also shared a quote from Kaye about her work, in which she opened up about the less-than-glamorous aspects of her job.

“The general public assumes that music supervision is a glamorous and exciting job—being paid to work with one of everyone’s favorite pastimes, music,” she said.

“[But] in most films and scripted television … the music is usually the very last thing that happens, and sometimes there is not enough budget left to fill all the music needs. Music supervisors are often expected to work fast and pull miracles creatively and financially to complete the project.”
