HGTV has reportedly canceled another of its popular shows—the fifth series to be given the chop within a matter of weeks.
According to host Alison Victoria, her hit series “Battle on the Beach” has been axed by the network after four seasons, a decision that she described as a “sad” development.
Revealing the news on her podcast, “Pap Smear,” Victoria—who hosted the series alongside “Rock the Block” star Ty Pennington—explained: “‘Battle on the Beach’ did not get picked back up, which is sad, because it was like adult spring break.”
The series, which premiered in July 2021, saw three teams going head-to-head in a renovation competition, attempting to transform identical beachfront properties in a bid to have their real estate overhaul declared the best by judges.
According to the U.S. Television Database, the show had an average of around 800,000 prime-time viewers during its most recently aired episodes, meaning that it was far from the worst-viewed show on HGTV when it was canceled.

On her podcast, Victoria seemingly blamed the cancellation, at least in part, on HGTV’s editing, noting that many of the funny moments that had been caught on camera during filming never made it past the cutting room floor.
“It was so fun and funny,” she said of the filming process. “And then all of a sudden, I watched the episode, I’m like, well, where’d all that [great content] go? I get it, it’s a lot of content to try to put into 42 minutes, but where is it? Where’s the great editing? You’ll lose a show that way. I truly believe that.”
Victoria did not address her other HGTV projects, including “Windy City Rehab” and appearances on “Rock the Block.” Neither of these shows is yet believed to have been affected by the cancellations.
However, that could well change in the coming weeks—with many HGTV viewers noting that they fear none of their favorite shows is safe after the network pulled the plug on multiple series within a matter of days.
Since June 18, the hosts of “Bargain Block,” “Married to Real Estate,” “Farmhouse Fixer,” and “Izzy Does It” have all shared the heartbreaking news about their shows’ cancellations.
The first of the shows to be axed was “Bargain Block,” according to its star Keith Bynum, who announced on his social media account that HGTV had chosen not to renew the popular Detroit-based series for a fifth season.
Bizarrely, he further alleged that the network had initially “greenlit” another round of episodes in December but ultimately backtracked on that promise just two months later.
“We do have a few more episodes coming out in August,” he wrote. “But they are the remainder of Season 4 ’cause they did not renew the show for Season 5.
“They originally greenlit it, and I guess that was back in December. Then they decided in February, after we got everything ready for Season 5, that they weren’t going to do it.”
Bynum—who hosted the show alongside Evan Thomas—later hit out at the “fickle world” of reality TV, describing the enormous pressure that had been placed on his team in the wake of the cancellation.
“Our entire business and lives have been put through the ringer at the hands of a giant corporation, yet we persist lol,” he wrote in a June 22 update on Instagram. “Though you may not be seeing us for much longer on HGTV, we’re excited that we’ve built such an amazing base of followers and we’re very excited about the future.”

The show, which premiered in 2021, was described by HGTV as documenting a team of “scrappy visionaries” who “buy run-down and abandoned properties, and transform them into affordable, stylish starter homes for first-time homebuyers.”
A few days after Bynum shared the news, popular “Flip or Flop” star Izzy Battres revealed that his new series, “Izzy Does It,” had also been axed by HGTV, announcing the news in a June 23 comment on one of his Instagram posts.
When asked by a follower whether Season 2 of his show—which only premiered in February—had been confirmed, Battres replied: “Unfortunately no Season 2 but we’re truly, thankful for everyone watching and supporting us!!”
Next up on the chopping block was “Married to Real Estate,” which stars husband and wife duo Mike Jackson and Egypt Sherrod, who announced on June 24 that the series had been abruptly canceled after four seasons.
Sherrod and Jackson, who began showing off their renovation skills on screen in 2022, explained on Instagram that they received the news about the cancellation just moments after arriving back in the U.S. following a family vacation in the Mediterranean.
“Mike and I just landed back in the States after an unforgettable family trip through the Mediterranean, and were met with unexpected news: HGTV has decided not to move forward with Married to Real Estate,” the couple, who wed in 2010 and share three children, revealed.
They conceded that the situation was hurtful but were quick to express their gratitude for the team that worked so hard on their four-season series.
“While the chain of events leading up to this is disheartening, we are deeply grateful. Grateful for four incredible seasons,” they went on.
“Grateful for our amazing crew and supportive fans. Grateful that our businesses continue to thrive. And most of all—grateful that we are still very much married to real estate (and to each other).”
The couple received messages of support from their fellow HGTV stars, including Pennington, who urged the duo not to be disheartened by the news.
“You know, in general I thought I had decent gauge about what TV executives wanted and the last few years have completely shattered that,” he wrote.

“Seriously shocked to hear this! Ya’ll are true professionals and I especially loved the designs from the last season. Keeping doing you. Onward and upward!”
The fourth show to be cut by the network was “Farmhouse Fixer,” which documented New Kids on the Block singer Jonathan Knight‘s restoration of historic New England farmhouses.
In a post shared on his Instagram, the musician and renovations expert expressed his sadness over the network’s decision, while thanking fans for their support throughout all three seasons of the show.
“A lot of you have been asking about the future of ‘Farmhouse Fixer,'” he began the post. “I am sad to say HGTV has decided not to move forward with another season.
“While I’m still processing the reasons that led to their decision, Kristina and I are so grateful for all your support over the past three seasons. Television has been so incredibly fun for us. We are so proud of what we created together and look forward to sharing what’s next for us.”
The news of the cancellations has left viewers up in arms—with some threatening to boycott the network altogether, while others voiced fears about what additional shows might also be axed.
“Exactly what are they planning on airing?” one person questioned in a Reddit thread about the canceled series. “Everything is canceled.”
Another chimed in: “It sounds like the end of the station.”
“Those are all great shows! I’m very frustrated,” one person added.
Questions were also raised about “Unsellable Houses,” “Luxe for Less,” and “No Demo Reno,” all of which the network has yet to confirm the futures of.
