EXCLUSIVE: Amy Schumer Slashes $1.25 Million Off Price of Brooklyn Townhouse—Less Than 3 Months After Listing It

Comedian Amy Schumer doesn’t appear to be finding much joy in the housing market, having chopped more than $1 million off the price of her Brooklyn townhouse, just weeks after it was listed for $14 million.

The 44-year-old actress and mother of one initially put her family dwelling on the market in March, explaining at the time that she and her husband, Chris Fischer, were relocating back to Manhattan with their son, Gene, in order to be closer to the youngster’s school.

“He got into a good school and we’re too lazy to commute 45 minutes to take our son to school every day,” Schumer joked to the Wall Street Journal while discussing her decision to sell the home.

Schumer and Fischer originally purchased the five-bedroom, 3.5-bathroom Brooklyn Heights dwelling for $12.25 million back in 2022, according to records—meaning that they stand to earn just $500,000 in profit after reducing their ask to $12.75 million.

That bitter pill will likely be all the more difficult to swallow given that the duo also poured a substantial amount into renovating the home, with the “Trainwreck” star telling the WSJ that the couple wanted to make the house into a dwelling that suited their personal needs.

“We loved what we moved into, but we’ve definitely made it our own,” she explained, adding that the 5,500-square-foot home—although not massive by most celebrity real estate standards—felt too big for just the three of them.

“This is a home that is just ready for more people,” she added. “[But] this neighborhood has just been a dream to live here, and I feel very sad to leave.”

Among the changes that Schumer and Fischer made was an extensive overhaul of their backyard, for which they enlisted landscape architect Michael Van Valkenburgh, although the “I Feel Pretty” star noted that there wasn’t “a ton” of space to work with.

Inside the dwelling, there are plenty of impressive amenities on offer, however, including two entertaining rooms, a custom wine cellar, a gym, a library, and a palatial primary suite that boasts a fireplace and an en suite bathroom with a spacious soaking tub.

Adding to the property’s impressive heritage is the fact that it was featured in the hit movie “Moonstruck,” starring Cher and Nicholas Cage, in which its exterior was used as the façade of the Castorini family’s home.

According to the listing, much of the design and decor of the property, which was built in 1829, boasts a New Orleans-inspired aesthetic—no doubt influenced by Schumer and Fischer’s home in the Louisiana city.

“Hemmed in by ornate wrought-iron, the New Orleans-style terrace off the rear parlor looks over, and descends to the private, fenced in backyard,” the description notes, while adding of the primary bathroom: “Continuing with the French New Orleans aesthetic, the ensuite boasts an original marble soaking tub, a freestanding shower with nickel finishes, another fireplace, dual vanity, and exquisite marble tiling.”

When the property was listed, Schumer readily posted about it on her Instagram account, where she boasts 12.7 million followers, no doubt in an effort to drum up interest.

“Brooklyn heights two parking spots. Backyard. Four bedrooms … Ever best hood ever. ONe block from Brooklyn Bridge park and all the schools are so close. Will miss it so much and loved our three years here. Quite safe and beautiful,” she wrote, while sharing a few listing photos.

Schumer has given little away about where in Manhattan she and her family are relocating to—although her decision to share details about her Brooklyn address suggests that they have long since moved out of the property.

Still, she and Fischer have a fair few other homes to choose from, should they have wished to take some time to decide on a new city dwelling.

The coupe owns a property in New Orleans, which Schumer happily showed off in a home tour video back in May, describing the dwelling as a “dream come true.”

“Over the years, going on the road, doing stand-up, and then eventually being married and pregnant, we were spending more and more time here. And so in 2021, we bought this beautiful place and renovated it and made it into our dream, dramatic New Orleans hang,” she explained in the Homeworthy clip.

In 2016, Schumer’s property portfolio made headlines again when she revealed that she had bought back the farm that her father lost to bankruptcy when she was a child.

“We lost the farm when we lost everything else. But today I got to buy it back for him,” the comedian said in an Instagram post at the time.
