Gifted songstress and “Mulholland Drive” star Rebekah Del Rio has been found dead at the age of 57 inside her Los Angeles home, according to the local coroner’s office.
Authorities, who found Del Rio inside her abode on June 23, have yet to reveal any other information about her death—which is still under investigation.
The singer, who was raised in San Diego and was of Mexican, Italian, and Sephardic heritage, rose to stardom after appearing in David Lynch‘s hit 2001 film, “Mulholland Drive,” in which she performed the song “Llorando.”
Her tragic death comes 16 years after her son, Phillip C. DeMars, died from cancer at just 23 in 2009.
The Hollywood heavyweight’s nephew, Dan Coronado, confirmed her death in a post on Facebook, which read, “Just found out my Tia Becky passed away, and we literally just saw her on Father’s Day.

“So grateful the kids got to hear her sing. and also that I didn’t listen to her and secretly recorded the moment. Her most famous song is titled ‘Llorando’ which is named after Roy Orbison’s song ‘Crying’ which I’m doing right now as I type this out.
“Thank you for sharing your beautiful gift with the world. We love you.”
Just weeks before her death, Del Rio showcased her belting skills at a live charity screening of “Mulholland Drive” in Los Angeles.
In 2022, the star told IndieWire that she had recorded the track for Lynch long before filming began.
She revealed, “There were many takes. And with every take I sang along because I felt I had to produce that same feeling with the vibrato in my throat so the audience could see it.
“I also wanted the beautiful girls on the balcony, Laura and Naomi, to experience it live. They were present while I was doing my scene, so I sang to them.”
Lynch met Del Rio in the ’90s after being introduced by their mutual CAA agent Brian Loucks.
At the time, the songstress was working under a country record deal in Nashville, TN.

When they met, Lynch asked Del Rio to perform for her and recorded her. It became the basis for the Club Silencio scene for his film.
She went on to showcase her voice for Lynch on numerous other occasions, including in the series “Twin Peaks: The Return.”
Del Rio’s death comes just months after Lynch died at the age of 78 following years of health woes.
His family shared the news in January, telling fans, “‘It is with deep regret that we, the family, announce the passing of the man and the artist, David Lynch.”
It was then revealed that he had suffered cardiac arrest because of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.
Del Rio experienced much grief in her life, having had to deal with her son’s death.
In 2022, she reflected on his tragic passing, telling The Guardian, “My voice lends itself to that sadness because I carry a lot of grief inside.”
