“Married to Real Estate” hosts Egypt Sherrod and Mike Jackson have revealed their HGTV show has been abruptly canceled after four seasons—branding the situation “disheartening” but noting that they are trying to see the move as a “blessing in disguise.”

Sherrod and Jackson, who began showing off their renovation skills on screen back in 2022, explained on Instagram that they received the news about the cancelation just moments after arriving back in the U.S. following a family vacation in the Mediterranean.

“Mike and I just landed back in the States after an unforgettable family trip through the Mediterranean, and we’re met with unexpected news: HGTV has decided not to move forward with Married to Real Estate,” the couple, who wed in 2010 and share three children, revealed.

They conceded that the situation was hurtful but were quick to express their gratitude for the team that worked so hard on their four-season series.

“While the chain of events leading up to this is disheartening, we are deeply grateful. Grateful for four incredible seasons,” they went on.

“Grateful for our amazing crew and supportive fans. Grateful that our businesses continue to thrive. And most of all-grateful that we are still very much married to real estate (and to each other).”

The husband and wife duo then insinuated that there were other details they are not yet able to share with viewers, before branding the cancellation a “blessing in disguise.”

“There’s more to say, and we’ll share soon. But for now, know this: not all setbacks are what they seem. Some blessings show up in disguise. We’ve been here before. We’ll keep counting those blessings—and keep it moving. Stay tuned,” they added.

The couple captioned the post, “Sometimes GOD will rip you out of a situation to set you up for your next!”

In December 2024, Sherrod actually opened up about the toll that the couple’s filming schedule had taken on her home life, admitting that—while she was busy transforming properties on the screen—her own abode was in a less-than-perfect state.

“Unfortunately, mine is a mess right now,” she told Realtor.com. “I’ve got three stacks of dirty clothes sitting right in the middle of my bedroom waiting for me this weekend. You know that saying ‘The cobbler’s kids have no shoes?’ I’m always designing clients’ homes, out showing them homes, or helping to create and renovate their dream homes.”

She added that she was focusing on prioritizing her own wellbeing in a bid to ensure that she remains fit and healthy for many years to come, particularly for the sake of her children.

The couple explained on Instagram that they learned of the cancelation just after they arrived back in the U.S. from a vacation in the Mediterranean.

The couple announced the news of the fourth season in February, however, the series released a mere 12 episodes before getting axed.

“I just saw a statistic that said people that get less than five hours of sleep per night are actually reducing their lifespan. I can’t remember it exactly, but it was like you’re taking a year off of your life for every year that you’re not getting a good night’s sleep, so I want to be around for my kids,” she shared.

“I think many mothers can relate to this: We put everybody first and then wind up taking care of ourselves in the wee hours of the night or morning, and that’s why we’re not getting enough sleep. But then compound that with the television show, and compound that with running companies, and then also with being premenopausal.”

Over the course of the past three years, the HGTV series aired 44 episodes and garnered over 16.6 million views in one season, according to Warner Bros. Discovery.

“Married to Real Estate” is produced by 51 Minds Entertainment.

Before boasting their talents on “Married to Real Estate,” Sherrod hosted HGTV “Flipping Virgins” from 2015 to 2018.

The parents and real estate pros previously worked as blind judges on Season 2 of the channel’s “Rock the Block” in 2021. They appeared once again on Season 3 and took home a win.
